ABOUT ME
Meet Nick van Sabben
Nicholas holds a Master’s Degree in Psychology and Clinical Counselling, combining extensive knowledge with meaningful life experience to enrich his practice. Much of his work is with Indigenous people in the Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc and surrounding bands. He is FNHA mental health provider and is passionate about working with First Nations, Métis and Inuit people.
Specializing in trauma therapy, Nicholas has worked with high-risk cases involving not only adults but also youth and families. His personal and professional expertise extends to parenthood, couples therapy, divorce, grief, and loss, offering clients relatable insights and guidance.
Nicholas employs evidence-based approaches such as cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and other psychotherapy techniques, while remaining flexible to each individual’s unique needs. He incorporates cultural and traditional perspectives into the healing process, empowering clients to explore alternative paths to recovery.
With a deep commitment to building positive therapeutic relationships, Nicholas creates a safe, supportive environment where clients feel truly heard and valued on their journey toward healing and growth.
